“Know Your Blood Pressure” is the message of the Awareness Campaign organised by the Cyprus Society of Cardiology aiming to inform about the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of hypertension.
On occasion of the World Hypertension Day on Friday, May 17, 2019, the public will have the opportunity to be informed about the serious implications of hypertension on our health, at The Mall of Cyprus in Nicosia, from 16:00 – 18:00.
Scientists warn that hypertension is now an evolving epidemic as more than one billion people -over 25% of the world population – suffers from hypertension.
Evidence shows that there is an alarmingly high prevalence of hypertension in Cyprus, as 1 in 4 people are hypertensive, with the number increasing to 1 in 2 for people over 60 years.
Sedentary lifestyle, lack of exercise, unhealthy diet, obesity, stress, and smoking are factors significantly associated with high blood pressure.
The campaign is supported by The Mall of Cyprus.
